What does this poem mean to you?

I like it. I love the image of a sunny sandy beach, waves, and tides, and then a night view of it as well. This poem reminds me of a relationship. The need not to be distant, for that person to want you as you want them. Or maybe your unsure and you need to be pulled in because you don't have the strength. And then there's the fear of them pushing you away again and again, which is something you accept or find worth it.
